I`m going to buy a Rega Ear headphone amplifier. That`s because I like all the other stuff of Rega and it`s not that expensive.

I don`t know which headphone I must team-up with this amp.
After some research I`ve shortlisted these cans: Sennheiser hd650, Sennheiser hd595, AKG k501 and the Beyerdynamic DT880.

I listen to all kinds of music.
So enlight me!

I recommend Grado \ Alessandro's !! You can always customize them by changing pads to achieve different sound signatures. They also are relativly cheap until you climb up the latter.

The way to head-fi heaven by way of the Rega Ear goes through the path of Sennheisers. My preference is HD650/Zu Mobius for the Rega Ear, which I mated with a Rega Planet 2000=>Rega Couple IC=>Rega Ear.

Don't make the mistake of using very sensitive phones with the Rega Ear as it has too much gain (I believe 21dB or something). Do a search and you will be further enlightened.

It seems you like the Sennhieser sound so I would go for the HD 650. But if you want to try a new sound buy the DT 880's.

With my tube amp I choose the HD-650 before the 595. They seem to be a very good match.

21dB! That's alot. I have a gain of 4.5 dB on my amp and it's more than enough. If this is true I have to second the reccomendation about not using to sensitive headphones.

I think the rega was voiced with Sennheisers in mind.
