Hey all,

Out of lurk mode. I just spent 30 minutes listening to some SR80s, they really are nice. Now after listening to them I purchased some 225s for a Christmas present. Now I think the 225s come with a 1/4 in plug, while the intended source will be the smaller size. Now my question is, is there any amount of degradation happen when you add pieces between HP plug and source? FOr instance, a 1/4 to 1/8 to Grado extension cable/cord to what ever size terminates at end of ext cord to another adapter. Does it degrade the quality of the music as to make it not a wise idea to do it if you do not have to?

I don't think you can notice the difference.

The degradation is pretty minor with the Grado extension cable.

Something like this puts less stress on the jack.

as already stated, you probably won't notice any degradation. i personally use the grado mini adapter

All components/connectors added in the signal path will in some way degrade the signal (imo).
It may be below audible level though...

Get the Sennheiser adapter instead of the Grado one.
Senns = $5
Grado = $15

I made a pretty swank custom adapter with good jacks and nice silver cable. You know, just in case
