Should I see an audiologist?

I recently noticed my ears have a channel imbalance so to speak. My left hears things noticeably louder than my right. I have good listening habits, safe volumes, rarely go live concerts. I don't think noise-induced hearing loss is very likely.

I've confirmed the issue isn't my equipment (tried combinations of 3 phones, 3 amps, 2 DACs).

You should see an ENT - an audiologist is more like an optometrist or orthodontist where the ENT is like the opthalmologist or dentist - and they're the ones who can figure out what the problem really is before you get around to getting equipment. Going to an audiologist before an ENT can be like going to an optometrist at the local mall's eye glasses store and you get your eyes' grade, but an opthalmologist will really try to find out if your vision ailments are caused by myopia, or something physiological and refer you to another specialist, or dilate your eyes to simulate fresh vision in the morning as opposed to your having gone through other tasks before getting tehre (tired eyes cannot focus properly, and you will not be able to correct that just by boosting the grade for astigmatism).

BTW if your ears are properly cared for, for all you know it could be something as simple as ear wax build up. My ENT uses his tiny vacuum cleaner in my ear canal once a year with express instructions that I don't use any Q-tips (after the fourth time I came in to clean it out after having pushed in ear wax bit by bit until I compacted it all in there) any more for the rest of my natural life (I mean, not like I can see my own ear canal when I put anything in there). He doesn't charge me a cent because his wife was my pediatrician since birth, so basically I'm damn sure this has nothing to do with profits (well, I do bring him pastries instead).
