Hello all,

I am currently using the TRITTON AX51 Pro 5.1 headset with an HT Omega Claro 7.1 soundcard.  Primary use:  Battlefield Bad Company 2.  I am very dissatisfied with the positional audio of this arrangement in FPS.  I don't know if the headset is to blame, or if it's a combination of this headset coupled with a Claro.  In any case, I have not be able to get the audio properly setup for the precision necessary in FPS.

In terms of headsets, I am going off of this thread as to what to buy next:  http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/495457/hd-555-ad700-steelseries-siberia-v2

My options appear to be:  DT770 Pro 80 or AKG K701 (either of which are to be coupled with an amp at some point)

Regardless of which headset I choose, some of my friends are suggesting that I replace the HT Omega Claro 7.1 with an X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series:  http://www.amazon.com/Express-Blaster-Titanium-Fatal1ty-Champion/dp/B001BDPLJA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1281145048&sr=8-4

What are your thoughts on the matter?  Should I upgrade to the X-Fi (in light of the headsets mentioned) or keep the Claro?

Thank you in advance!

If you're going to get an X-FI based, only Auzentech makes quality stuff. Creative-made cards are a joke exept for their EMU cards.

I think you should keep the HT Omega myself, there's not much difference between cards/dacs, only the software/drivers that they come with. The drivers for X-FI probably will help your positional audio with poorly implemented games that rely on B.S. like EAX.
