I use a shure se215 ear buds and in the past ipod. I hate ipods after huge dramatic changes. After looking at fiio x3 gave me hope again to use a reliable mp3 player again with the right budget and sound quality. Is this worth the investment?

But I think since you are just looking for a good player and not interested in extra features, it is hard to beat Fiio X1's Price/performance ratio. And the above deal $80 for X1 with 32GB card is literally a steal.
