After reading an old thread I recently repaired my Gigabeat S by simply opening it up and reinserting the ribbon that had come loose almost a year ago and had rendered my player what I thought to be completely useless. It's the 60GB version and I'd forgotten how nice it sounds. I was going to sell it on eBay or someplace but after listening I wonder if I should hold onto it? Any suggestions? Thanks for your input.

The Toshiba Gigabeat series are known for their audio quality, if you like the sound and don't have another DAP you like better, then keep it around.

The rockbox port on the S series is progressing nicely:

Might want to take a peek and see if that helps.

I still find gigabeat sounds far better than most ipods and other DAP. If you are happy with the sound, stick with it.

Thanks for your replies. I'd forgotten about the Gigabeat S/Zune association! Time to pick up a 120BG Zune.
