 Did try the Continental V2 from ALO and yes have to say it was less than gutsy and dynamic sounding,
 it uses a Raytheon 6111 NOS tube.
 
 Go Vibe Portatube is no powerhouse either.

 Pretty sweet and laid back ~ precisely why I got them, V200 tends to place all headphones regardless
 of their natural presentation a few rows back so the mids could be considered a little distant by some
 tastes. Again, not sure I'd ever own the DT990 Premium 600ohm as my only can, they'd leave me
 wanting for more upfront mids on some material but for a laid back listen - they're a serious alternative
 to the HD650 for me, certainly the only one in my collection that I can pass the 4hr+ mark without
 any ear fatigue.
 
 Bass is the strongest suit, really rich and the V200's 600mW (5 x times the max. of the DT990)
 and 18.5V of voltage swing drives them perfectly with +6dB gain on both channels.
 
 Still think the Woo Audio 6 and DT990/600ohm is the best bang for your buck match, the
 Burson 160 also fares quite well on the high impedance jack.

I'm considering the Audio-GD C-2.2 which puts out 200MW at 600ohm, and I really don't want a tube amp. The V200 is out of my price range, but was curious as to how that much power on the DT990/600 would behave.

Okay, so I'm now at the decision point.  I'm leaning more towards getting the 32 ohm version of the DT990 -- would I be sacrificing anything by doing so (compared to higher impedance versions)?  With the 32 ohm version, would I be OK with getting something like the FiiO E5/6?

I 've got this C2.2 and try him to drive dt990s . They give us one kind of music that 's never been better than this combo . Strong bass , a little bit harsh in high-range but matching wonderful with rock metal , electrical guirta or rapid drumbeat. It's worth every single penny !

Its cool. I bought the NFB5 which is just a little weaker than the C.2-2 but I'm sure even this would make the DT990 shine. I don't have them anymore though...

I was also planning to buy new cans. I can get older DT990 pros with 150€ but I am also interested in Hifiman HE-400 which will cost around 360€. Is there justification for that price difference? I currently own DT880 (older model).
