Should I get the Beyer DT-880?

I agree with Warpdriver on this one. I wouldn't recommend getting the DT880s if you already have HD600s and are looking for something different. But Grados are about as different as you can get and you said you wanted something similar, just a different brand. I dunno. The DT880s are definitely comfortable, but they're so much like HD600s that I just couldn't recommend them.
But there isn't much that's the same quality as the HD600 that's similar except the DT880s so I have no clue.

Bilinkansas which one do you like better between hd600 and dt880? I plan on getting a portaphile V2^2 as an upgrade amp, right now I use a PAV2. What kind of amps do you guys use to power these? Thanks again.

I am waiting for my DT880s, but I have the HD580s (kinda similar to the HD600s) and the AKG501s. I actually really love the AKG for female vocals, chamber and instrumental solos on the AKGs. Not to mention that they are really light and comfortable. But if its bass you are after, the AKG501s is NOT a basshead phone. It is however a detail, neutral phone. Perhaps it will change when my LDIII tube amp arrives and it may provide more warmth. Right now it's like Mint Mocha Frappucinno, my HD580s are a hot caramel mocha, and I am hoping that the DT880 + tube combo will be like a Starbucks Chantico with 2 shots of espresso....

I also have the MS1s for my rock, blues, and big band moments, just to make sure I have all my bases covered. Er, the MS1s are probably just straight espresso shots, to continue my analogy....

It'll probably be more like Mint Mocho Chip Frappachino, non-fat, easy-whip, with chocolate sprinkles. Really sweet, rich but not too rich, frothy and smooth.

I am counting down to mid-Sept when I will hopefully receive my amp....

In the meanwhile...I shall dream...and drink more Starbucks! (All the tuition money they gave me for school I have repaid now...with interest!)
