I have a pair of Sennheiser HD650 headphones, and I am on regular onboard sound on my PC.  My question is, should I get an Audio-GD amp or an Essence STX sound card?  I play a ton of games and listen to a lot of music too, so what do you guys think?

Well, the Essence STX should be better at gaming then on board sound.

If your PC offers lineout signals through HP jack or has RCA out then External AMPs is better pick. If not then i will recommend to buy either Essence ST over STX or buy Fiio E7 or E10 + E9.
