Should I Bother with SR-60s?

I love my sr 80's and despite all the moaning you read about their comfort I have found them to be very comfortable. The Grado sound is addictive, and as someone else has mentioned, it could be detrimental to your wallet.

since I was thinking the same thing just recently should I bother as well?

(in case people get smart on the bonehead on ebay who is selling SR 325s as SR225s)

I'm in the same boat. I have W5000s and HD650.. now I'm looking for some Grado cans like SR225i or maybe Alessandro MS2i.

I don't like too much aggressive mids of Grado.

ive had both the SR60 and the SR80. the SR80 has an audible difference but if you take an SR60 and put bowls on it, it comes mighty close, but there still a tad more bass in the SR80.

I loved my SR60's but for some inexplicable reason about six inches of cable from both cup ends hardened and split. Not sure if I can get the cable replaced...or if it's worth the hassle.

I had (well, still have) the A900, auditioned some SR-60's, fell in love, took them home, ordered MS2i one month later, put the A900 in storage, am contemplating on selling the A900

really, the A900 is a very good headphone, but just not for me... just go for the SR-80 (or 60) and see for yourself which sound is your pref... you can always sell the 'loser' on

i've noticed that no one has mentioned this before even though you're thinking about the SR60 but have you thought about the MS1? they're only $30 more and imo they're an even better bang for the buck than the SR60. the SR0 are pretty good but the MS1 are that much better.

And don't forget, with an $8 Senn HD-414 ear pad reverse mod, the comfort level goes way up on the Grado SR80s (and they sound a bit better too). I finally just converted my 7-year-old SR80s, and all of a sudden, I am listening to them again. Ugly yellow foam, but for home use, who cares?

As far as SR-60 vs SR80; I think I'd spring for the SR-80 just for the four wire cable and the bowl pads.

As far as the MS-1; yeah I bought a pair of the darned things too. They can be very addictive though!

Where can I find MS-1s? They sell under the Allesandro name, right?

Should you bother with the 60s? Yes. Try the least expensive first. Fall in love. Choose the "older" sister you prefer later if your lust isn't satisfied.

I'd recommend them too. Got some better headphones myself that I prefer to listen to most of the time. But the SR60, they're, for lack of a better word, just fun to listen to. Very enjoyable (until your ears start to hurt after about an hour of wearing them). But that hour is very satisfying.
