Thought I'd share my opinion Shigeru Umebayashi's composition of 'Curse of the Golden Flower' OST.

IMO the movie isn't so great, but Shigeru Umebayashi has done amazing work on some tracks.

An example of this is in a few tracks which are devoted to certain characters in the movie, listening the to tracks alone tells you the emotions and personalties of the character.

Summaries of some tracks:

03 - Return to the Palace (In the movie this is when the HUGE gates of Palace open up)
04 - Theme of the Emperor (Really illustrates the power of the Emperor, not a guy you want to mess with here)
05 - Theme of the Empress (You can hear her sorrow)
10 - The Portrait (The portrait of the Emperor's true love)
11 - Theme of the Empress's Fate (Death, very gloomy)
15 - Huang Jin Jia
18 - Betrayal to the Emperor (Something big is happening soon! Get ready for battle! Adrenalin rush!)

19 - Heroic Battle (Fighting, lots of blood and death, what will happen?)
20 - Wan's Last Moment (Sorrow, death of a someone close)
21 - End of the War (It's over, now face the consequences, don't mess with the Emperor)
23 - Curse of the Golden Flower (so much bad stuff has happened, truly cursed)

If anyone has heard this OST, you should also have a listen at Tan Dun's work on the OSTs for Hero and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Really top stuff
