This is pretty common quality check you missed. Why didn’t you do this before releasing the product to the public? A

The issue seems to be affecting only a small group of routers, we were not able to replicate it with any routers we use. We are now sourcing some of the routers that were reported as problematic to check on it.
I'm assuming the m6 ultra doesn't have a dedicated 4.4. line out (to use portable amps like the aroma a100tb), but if anyone could confirm that would be great. Thanks :)
No dedicated line-out circuit, but you can of course use M6 Ultra balanced output with amps. Best to set medium gain, line-out mode.

Hi folks, I have finally finished my review of Shanling M6 Ultra. You can find it on Head-fi and my personal blog.

As we reach the end of this review, let’s go back to the opening question: “What’s the point of digital audio players (DAP) in this day and age?”

From a pure performance/cost ratio perspective, No, there is no point.

But it does not mean that a DAP is not desirable. A device like M6U is a desktop setup you can put in your bag or pocket. From the convenience perspective, there is a sense of freedom when you don’t have to deal with separate devices, cables, and Bluetooth in your listening session. You pick up the brick, your IEM or your headphone and enjoy.

There is also a psychological perspective. As someone who is easily distracted, having a brick dedicated to music helps me to focus on the thing for which I buy all these gears: enjoying music. Not just playing music in the background but savouring it. Of course, a phone and a dongle serve the purpose just fine, but a dedicated brick feels better (to me).

Should you get an M6U? It depends on how much you want a music brick. If you’ve decided that you want one, despite the performance/cost argument, then Shanling M6 Ultra should be one of your options. It’s a good one.

hi
Has anyone know that streaming music app (ex.TIDAL) on M6U has Direct Transport Audio (decode without resampling) like Cayin n6II?
All apps on our Android devices should be avoiding re-sampling. If you find any app with problems, please report it to us for a check.

another 1 more question. For streaming app like Apple Music, TIDAL. When I download music, can I force to download to external storage (micro-SD)?
Yes with Apple music. There is a setting in the app that changes the download location to external storage.

this DAP is an incredible mix of value, functionality and sound. I own the M8 and the iBasso DX320 and while on sound alone the M8 and 320 edge out the M6ultra it is pretty close.
The M6 Ultra boots super fast, holds a great long battery change if left on overnight (unlike the M8 and to a lesser degree the 320). The form factor and weight are just about perfect as well. I find myself reaching for this one more and more. It is not as lush and smooth as the M8 and potentially not as detailed or are strong with the transient attacks as the 320 but it does strike a particularly strong balance between the two higher end DAPs.

Just wanted to chime in my appreciation for the M6 Ultra. Sound, UI, screen, size/weight. All outstanding for my use case, which involves the DAP staying in my pocket for much of the day. Also love that it works so well with Roon, ARC and Qobuz apps, even though I often use the SD card to keep the networking glitches to a minimum as a move around in and out of the house. If only it was Roon Ready, it would be perfect for me.

Also love being able to use the Eddict iPhone app to control volume and basic remote functions without fishing the M6 out of my pocket.
