Anyone running an amp with the M2?  If so, how much more battery life are you getting out of it?

Thanks

I honestly haven't noticed any real difference in terms of battery life extension, perhaps an addictions like hour or 2.. But nothing major.. I've used the iBasso D14, the Fiio Q1, and the Fiio E12A. I don't use an amp anymore with it, because I sincerely feel it sounds best with no amp coloration.

I only use an amp to extend battery life of the DAP.  I listen at work mostly, so I need something that can go 8+ hours.  I know the M2 is very capable of this, but was curious if an amp can stretch it even further.  I get 15 hours out of my X3II when amped.  Thanks for the info.

With regards to needing to be reset, I came into the X3 world rather late (maybe 9 months).  So by then the firmware was a bit better.

While I have crashed both X3 Gen 1 and Gen 2 machines, that happened much less than with the M2.  But I like the sound of the M2 more, so there is that.

I am interested in trying out firmware 2.1; because for all I know it is more stable for my purposes.  But like everybody else here, I sure can not figure out how to download it.

Maybe Shanling can provide a link for us?

I was thinking you were one of the early adopters, my bad.

Funny thing about the electronic devices these days, it seem almost random if you get a stable or wonky unit. I remember reading posts from people with X3s having problems that I've never had - mine was reasonably stable.
Here's hoping the new FW sorts you out

Yeah, for example, the DX80, I read on and on about others having problem after problem with theirs.. I don't experience any of that with mine.. So it really is either "Operator Error" not knowing what the different noises are that are happening internally, or perhaps product quality deficiencies. Who knows.. At the end of the day, the M2 has been a very stable player for me, as the DX80 has also been, and tomorrow, I will receive my Shanling M5.. So hopefully that one will continue the trend..

Pretty sure DX80 was on unstable in very early FW releases, no?

On the contrary, I've found Shanling's FW to be rock solid from day one!

It was very unstable when it first released, and honestly, there are still plenty of issues.. FW1.3.3 is still the most stable for the DX80, at least in my usage.. Or using Lurkers custom FW..
And absolutely, the M2 has been perfect since the start.. well.. Since I got it, it's been solid.. Lol..

I successfully updated to 2.1. There is no changelog in the archive, though, and going through the menus everything seemed to be the same. It is probably just a stability update. Hopefully it will sort out the problem I am having pairing the M2 as DAC with my windows laptop.

If anyone has trouble downloading the firmware, just send me a PM and I will put it in my Dropbox.
