Just compared the m2.fw from the .zip with the one from the original .rar. I get different md5 sums:
1f86525e11ca81c65a1414b95454fc69  rar/m2.fw
1b1c5d74a37d1853864cb70d8fc819d0  zip/m2.fw
I could update successfully with the one from the .rar file.

New FW1.10 (20151123112554_4988.zip)  seems contain broken "m2.fw" file.

I tried system update many of times, but always stoped update with message "upgrade file is corrupted".
Then I downloaded FW1.01(20151120175518_1394.zip) and system update has successful.

I tried extracting zip file both Mac and Win, but brought same result.

Please correct corrupted m2.fw file of FW1.10.

For me the RAR download of FW 1.10 works fine on the M2 it's now on latest FW 1.10, if the ZIP download of FW 1.10 is not working try this RAR: http://www.shanling.com/Source/20151124191959_4275.rar

Thanks for your remind. We have problems uploading this Zip FW with unknown reason. We have now temporarily shift back to RAR and please use the RAR before we solve the uploading problem

Yes, that works fine! Thanks for your mention to Shanling.
On FW1.01 - 1.10, I felt operations are similar to early version of FiiO X1.

I recived my Shanling m2 yesterday. I have never heard portable device sounding well like this! I have had many different daps : iriver clix2, sansa fuze, sansa clip+, iriver H320, colorfly c3 and the last was samsung ygh-925. All of them had not punchy bass, sharp midldes, and natural sound as M2!
 
I also listened modern players like Fiio x3, x3-2, x5-2, dx90, mae8....What can i say? I don`t like how mae8 sounds at all(It is very dark for me. But i fell it is high range sounding product). I do not like ibasso`s cold sound signature also. x5-2 sounds good for me. His little brother - sounds simplistically, poor and compressed.
 
That is all about anothers I totaly loved shanling m2! His sound rank for me near the x5-2. But it has more agression and attack.  I don`t want to say - it is agressive. I say - well balanced, natural sound! Midrange has got crisp and powerfull attack at Marc Ribot`s guitar in Ceramic Dog album Your Turn. I hear size (volume) and material of snare-drum in O`o by John Zorn. I have never heard so mach detalization before! 
 
Couple words about design. I love the things done with the soul. But i have thought this things has gone almost all early 2000. I was wrong Yesterday i felt long-forgotten feeling of "soul thing" ^^.

I have a trouble with DAC mode. My windows 10 can not finish install process and m2 don`t work as a DAC. Could you make the drivers for WIN10, please?
 
I have already instaled new FW . Control wheel works better. It became more sensitive. As i am rockbox and last.fm user i have one Christmas wish for Shanling . Could you make scrobbling support if it possible? I have last.fm profile since 2009.  http://www.last.fm/user/MeMagus  Player has to do .scrobbler.log file for scrobbling. I have got this file from my previous player, but i could not recognize the file structure. http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/LastFMLog - list of avalible programs for reading such type of file (.scrobbler.log). Link with structure of file does not. I have asked about structure on another forum. If you will vote possibility of implimentation as probable i do everything possible with my hand. 
 
I am able to help with implementation (translation) to russian for FW too.

It seems Chinese DAP vendors (love) using the same source for their firmware. 

It's the exactly same like a other big name, only sightly different UI, but the firmware source is really 1:1, like the same folder structure and config handeling the INI files, which I'm really familiar with.
 
See here I just extracted my M2 FW 1.10 with the FiiO firmware tools LOL:

 

 

 
I can now make my own themes like I did in the past. I only changes the batch content for the M2, the same will work for M3 if it uses *.fw type.
 
I changed: pack.bat to
 
packtools --pack -i m2 -o m2.fw -m m2
 
And I changed unpack.bat to
 
packtools --unpack -i m2.fw -o m2
 
I'm only tried it, because after flashing the new firmware of my M2 I remembered the days with my old (sold) FiiO X3 and I liked to change the themes and I can change now the German translation that it fits for me on the M2 too.

Yes h1f1add1cted: Yup, I did this, too but like Shanling's themes enough I haven't modded them yet. Cayin, FiiO, and Questyle all use the same firmware base, too

Yup. Out of the ChInese DAPs I've tested so far, just iBasso and Soundaware use their own unique code.

If you want i can hear some special Zorn's works (I love too) the O'o is connected with some my memories. I listen it time to time. Know how it sounds and i can see the differences between DAPs sound signature.
