I use Shanling CD-T100 headphone hole to drive my HD600/Cardas (and soon RS-1). The Shanling CD-T100's headphone hole recieved very good reviews, but I still guess a headphone hole is a headphone hole. Here is one of the reviews:
Quote:

"... A word about the headphone output: it's sensational. Using my Sennhesier HD-600 cans, I replayed 'Halfway to Heaven' from Celine Dion [Epic 471508] at least four times because the sound was so wonderful… Every headphone output I've heard that even approaches this level of performance has been a standalone stage."

I've never used a headamp, so I have a simple question for those of you who know shanling CD-T100, how it compares to $100-$200 headamp? Shanling SCD-200 has the same headphone output as the CD-T100.

I have owned the T100 for a few months and have found the headphone output to be very good. Compared to a META42($100-150) amp, I could hardly tell the difference between them. The META42 could go a little louder, but that was it. If you are spending $100-200 for a headphone amp, I would rather use the headphone out on the cd player. Going into amps in the $500 range, then you can really notice an improvement.
