Hi There,

I am looking to have a set up that goes along the lines of -

Sources
- Project Debut Carbon Turntable into a phono preamp (havent decided yet)
- Digital Lossless Music Library from Computer
- Streaming Services like Spotify

Speakers
- I already own Adam A7 monitors which i love and which to continue using these (they are powered)

Where I need the advice is a piece of gear that will do the input selecting - without going down the road of just a cheap input switcher. If there is such a device that will incorporate the DAC (from the computer) and a phono preamp that would be ideal? I guess I would be looking at spending about $500.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Alex

Well my suggestion is an stereo amplifier as they have multiple stereo RCA & Digital Inputs which will allows you to switch between each source without worrying whether the cheap switch is degrading the audio stream.

The only problem here I can see is that you are using Adam A7, which are Active Studio Monitors and wouldn't really work with a stereo amplifier.

You can try the Sony UDA1 which gives you RCA Input which you can use for the phono pre-amp for the turntable, then you can use the digital inputs for your PC and then the RCA Output you can use an adapter to go from RCA to either 6.35mm Jack or XLR to your Adam A7

Thanks for the reply - this is what I was thinking I would have to do. Any other recommendations for similar amps?

Just seen this from Schiit Audio.

Seems like they created a switch which has two RCA Inputs and a single RCA Output, so you could connect up like the following:

PC -> DAC -> Schiit Audio Switch -> Adam A7
Turntable -> Preamp -> Schiit Switch -> Adam A7

Schiit Audio also do a preamp also and they also have DAC's too.

For the set it comes to around $340.00 from Amazon

I was also thinking for the DAC of the Audioengine D1 - given it has the versatility of having a headphone amp as well.

I cant imagine there would be any problems using this instead of the Schiit DAC, while still utilising the passive preamp and phono stage?

Yeah no doubt, you should have no issues using the Audioengine D1.

It will work perfectly well :)
