Apologies for the newb questions, but I want to get this right before I spend the next few days, ripping ALL of my cd's to a hard drive.
Currently, I rip my CD's to AIFF files in iTunes.
Do I need to use certain settings in iTunes 7 to obtain "bit-perfect" files, or is the data transfer independent of any user settings?
Specifically, in iTunes Preferences > Advanced > Importing > AIFF encoder, should any of the custom settings be used, e.g. instead of using all of the "auto" settings for sample rate and sample size?
Also, in iTunes Preferences > Advanced > Importing, should "use error correction when importing audio CD's" be checked?
Are there settings in iTunes Preferences > Playback, that should be un-checked? Crossfade PlaybackSound Enhancer, Sound Check.
And what about the volume control? I have read that this should be at max.
Or is this only for transferring files to an iPod?
Thanks.
