I think Amazon had ie6 for a similar price a year ago. Although this time Amazon might be clearing their stocks for the upcoming ie60.

That's exactly what is happening.  They are clearing there stock of a lot of older models right now.

I think cx6 is pretty much a closed version of ie6. For around the same price, the tf10 is a better option.
 
Btw this reminds me of an ie6/cx6. It's back-ordered but apparently sounds very good for the price.
