no answered my question so ill start the new topic here. what do you guys think of the 515's? do they need amps? do they have really, REALLY, REALLY good bass? not too shrilly treble? i will be using the headphones mainly for home use. did i mention i need BASS?

General consensus is that the hd515 is not the best phone for the money. Better in the same price range with a similar frequency response would be the AKG k240s. You should be able to get it for less than $99 shipped if you look online.

Or if you can afford it look at the Senn HD555 instead.
