I know they're rated for 70 dB SNR, but are they really supposed to have so much hiss? Even at the lowest headset volume, it's loud; it reminds me of a non-Dolby cassette from the 70s turned up pretty loud. It's easily audible over pure dialogue and low level background noise. Turning the headset volume up much past two (max six) increases the hiss dramatically and introduces a hum at the highest levels. Changing channels doesn't help, nor does increasing the volume of the source. It seems to be inherent to the headset.
