I know this is perhaps a noobish question. But I think a relevant one all the same.

I am an amateur audiophile looking into purchasing a set of Sennheiser headphones for music work & computer use.

And I took notice how some sets of Sennheiser headphones have cords that detach and that you can buy replacement cables for.

I note after years of owning many (crappy) pairs of headsets one of the common failing points is the cords.

To me it would be an attractive bonus to own a set of headphones that have the ability to replace the cords.

Is there a list anywhere available of which Sennheiser headphones either have detachable / replaceable cords or do not? If so could someone point me to such a list?

Any and all help would be appreciated...

yours,

Compatible cables :

Sennheiser HD 650/600/580, HD25-1 II, HD250-II Linear

There are probably other models but these are the ones that I own (except the 580) and I'm sure the cables are interchangeable

If you are asking about HD580/600/650 and HD800 cables, then you can choose between Cardas, Zu Mobius, Stefan Audio Art Equinox or Endorphin, ALO cables and many others i don't remember.
I owned Cardas now have the Zu Mobius, i like Mobius a little more due to better detail retrieval and a little tighter bass. All of them are a big step compared to the stock cable

Don't need info about the cables themselves..

I just want to know a list of WHICH Sennheiser headphones actually have replaceable / removable cables?

The HD580, HD600 and HD650 all use the same replacement cable. The HD590 uses a different one. The HD800 still a more elaborate different one. Don't know about others.

Etc............................

Some of these are pluggable externally by the user, others are pluggable internally (IE: they look fixed but you open the headphones and there is a plug and socket inside the capsule).

There are almost certainly others as well, this is just done from memory.

It's really just the very cheapest ones that are fixed and can't be replaced.
