just a warning to mx400/500 owners: these earbuds are modification-proof. i pried my mx400 apart to check out the innards and switch the plastic driver covers for some metal mesh covers, and discovered the mx400 drivers are built into the plastic covers! unlike sony earbuds, prying apart the mx400 tears the drivers in half. fyi.

it's ok though, my mx500 arrived today.

Lol...
Oh well..
I guess there's a reason for the solid plastic casing eh?

You like the mx500 color? I think it looks kinda weird.

i like the mx500 color... reminds me of the hd600 "formica" finish.

does anyone know if the inline volume on the mx500 can be used as a resistor along the lines of the er4p->s adaptor?

electronically speaking there's absolutely no reason not to, although the housing of the volume control determines how clever you have to be. Resistors are very small, however.

the question is whether or not it would be worth it, though. it seems more of a neat project then a useful one. I'd be curious to hear how it works out.
