  Yep. Using the Fiio L9 with my iTouch. I control the volume with my amp and not the iTouch itself.
 
Do you mind telling me what that special cable is and where I could get it in Canada? I was going to get the Fiio L2 to use with my phone.
 
I have Google Nexus 4, do you know if it has the lineout like the Samsung GS3 does?  I read online that android phones usually don't have a lineout. I though about using a 3.5mm jack to a microusb but i guess that wont work.

I have a dock that has a switch that and a line out jack for my GS3 which gets a line out from the phone's usb by some manipulation of wiring that is unique to the GS3. I have no idea about the Nexus 4. I have a Nexus 7 (2013) tablet with the latest version of KitKat and I can't get USB audio out to my DAC, yet my GS3 running not even the latest version of Jellybean can do this. Nothing is simple.

Ya I though so. I ordered a L2 which is on its way.

Only problem is. The static was bugging me so much. So I tried the other cable it came with and it was progressively worse. It kept cutting out and making horrible noises then the left side gave out and only the right side works. I put the other cable back in and it was the same.

Taking them back and getting a swap. I'm really disappointed.

I'm hoping for a little bit of help here. So, as of this summer I took the dive into the 'hi-fi' world after my bose Q2s were stolen by a stripper in Las Vegas (reality is stranger than fiction). At any rate, being as I was still in college at the time (graduated this past December, go Sun Devils!), I looked for an entry level pair, did my homework, read the forums all the time, and decided upon a reasonable budget setup. I ended up with the Sennheiser Momentum Full Size Cans, the C&C BH Amp, and a FiiO LOD, whichever type it is. Like many of you I quickly became hooked on not only enjoying my music in a new light, but also began searching for ways to further enhance my music experienced.....
 
Fast forward, this fall I make the leap to lossless audio whenever possible and 320 kbps at the bare minimum. I have since, as of two days ago, ordered the CLAS to go with my rig. I got a used one for $300 from Amazon, and will at first be using just an ipod digital LOD and the mini interconnect that came with the C&C BH Amp. Its not perfect, but it'll work! So, now looking for my next investment, I'm really tempted to get the ALO Mk3, but for a whole $650 I'm a bit hesitant -- thats a huge chunk of change, about what I paid for the CLAS and Momentums combined. Would I be better served getting better headphones or upgrading my amp for the C&C BH to the ALO Mk3? If I do, the issue is I love full-sized cans, but need them to be closed since I wear at the office, in commute, and so on. I want to make my next pair closed full-sized as well, but am not entirely sure where I can upgrade to that will make a sizable improvement from the momentums.....
 
Audio Technica's wood cans? the LCD-XC's? Those are all big ticket items and although worth it I'm just not sure where to handle the ALO Mk3 or new cans first? + with the Mk3 I'd definitely upgrade my cables which is another ~$300 to really do it right. 
 
Any thoughts? Sorry for the long post, thank you in advance hi-fi'ers!

So after about a day of use of new Sennheiser momentum I got recently, I can declare that these new ones are indeed better than the old defective ones I had. I do not think they are even on same level actually.
 
 
The old momentums had static issues with the 2 cables it came with (more so with the one that had the 3 buttons and mic which caused the left side to short out and make the right side only working). Just like deltasun said, it must have been the connection of the cable jack of the wire to the headphone itself rather than the audio device. The pads on the old ones but were oddly shaped (but it is because of the real leather which are never identical). The old ones literally had no bass even when I burned them in, they sounded great though minus the static. I found the headband kinda flimsy. Also, it had pretty strong clamping force.
 
The differences:
 
The new momentums had no static issues with the 2 cables. I constantly switched them every once in a while to test them. No issues at all. The cable with the buttons and mic sound just as good as the regular straight cable. The pads are more comfortable for me straight out of the box (but I guess you can say that I figured out how to put them on when I got the defective ones). The left is a bit different than the right but it is not really a big deal and nothing to be concerned about.  These new ones had the same, IF NOT BETTER, sound than the old ones straight out of the box while not being burned in. How can that be so? I do not really know. Oh and BASS! I can't imagine how it will sound after being burned in. Rather than burning them in straight out, I am going to enjoy them and let them burn in naturally with typical use. The build quality exponentially exceeded the old ones. It was much more solid. Also, the clamping force of the new ones were not as strong as the old ones, it was a comfortable and respectable amount of force.
 
So there you have it. HUGE DIFFERENCES.
