these will be dual purpose at home music/theater and on the smartphone not doing any wild or crazy activities . i like classic rock , some pop and smooth jazz . no death metal or rap/hip-hop/electronica ..... i really enjoy action/adventure and sci-fi movies so decent impact is wanted , not overblown muddy wallops . i do like a sparkly high end though . assuming my ears fit in the momentum on-ears which would be better ? or can i not go wrong with either ? i know the 598 doesn't have a mic , but it's not a big issue if they are the better headphones . if they're very close the mic may make the difference though .

I own a momentum over ear, and i don't find the comfort to be really good in fact....

If i were you I would not hesitate and i'd take the HD598 for home purposes (comfort and open back)

thanks for the reply . i'm leaning towards the 598 , just wanted to be sure i wouldn't be missing out on anything .
