Im not an audiophile, i just want a decent pair of headphones for use with laptop and with iphone when out
Please vote your preference?
 
my music is hiphop and r'n'b. some pretty base heavy at times, which i like , as long as the phones arent too base heavy
 
ive read the solo 2's are a big improvement but the sennheisers have a better reputation for headphones
 
 
Also, is there a way to tell the difference just by looking at the headphones which is a momentum 1.0 and which is a 2.0?

The solos have a lot more bass and if you like DAT BASS then they'd be a better choice. Momentums are more balanced and are built more luxuriously compared to the plasticky beats. I like both of them. And the momentum 2.0 have bigger oval more plushy ear ups and they have folding hinges, the 1.0 have more circular smaller Earpads and don't fold.
