Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Let us know what was the problem.
Update: the issue could be serious. I've not spoken directly with the technician, but he said that he needs some spare part that seems to be not available anymore.
So there's the chance to have a "replacement". I don't know yet what replacement and at which cost, I'll keep you updated.

It was evident even without 40 euro paid:) We have free diagnoctics btw.
Same old story. Tecnician who is capable to work with ie800 is a technician who has plenty experience with ie800. Not with sennheiser, not with earphones in general. With ie800.
Also, sennheiser never offered official replacements for drivers, it is not "unavailable cause discontinued", it simply never existed. Also, ie800 had several revisions of drivers inside. So back to my previous post "Sadly people beleive in wonders and we are receiving ie800 after some unexperienced diasassembling attempts time after time."
Next step is either to dispose earphones or to pay significantly higher price for repair (compared to non-disassembled state).

I thought you was referring to the owners when you wrote about the "unexperienced diasassembling attempts time after time", not to technicians

Actually I don't know if he disassembled the driver or not, I hope he didn't now :joy:
I laugh to keep from crying

Thank you for your message :)

Update, but not the final one :unamused:

Sennheiser cannot repair my IE800, so I can replace them with a brand new pair of... <drumroll> IE800S!!!
At the cost of... <drumroll> still unknown :unamused:

C'mon guys, give me a little reduction on IE600 and I can think about it, but the IE800S, after all these years... at a cost that it's still unknown and I need to wait maybe a week, maybe 10 days... no, thank you Sennheiser, this is not the right way to deal with your customers.

I think I'll go for other IEM, but I try to write an e-mail directly to Sennheiser.

Yes, this is how the "repair" was performed by sennheiser within the warranty period. They just replaced upper part, with V cable and drivers. Once the warranty is over all they can do is to sell you the new upper part. Usual price was ~~90% of the new set.

Ahahahah! 90% of the new set is a good way to make business, but not for their clients.

BTW, I wasn't joking: if you need spare parts, message me 😉

Well, it simply takes too much time and efforts to repair them, so I do not think it makes sense to mess with it, in terms of big company like sennheiser.
We usually repair customers' íems with our spareparts, not vice versa, but I'll keep in mind, thanks)

Finally the story ended!

Sennheiser made the following proposal: a couple of brand new IE800S for <drumroll> 460 EUR

Obviously I didn't accept it and meanwhile I bought from a user of this forum a couple of Thieaudio Monarch (absolutely amazing and I don't miss the IE800 at all).

Good news: the technician didn't open the left driver, so I have my IE800 still untouched (is it a good news @Vesperaudio?).

I have also just had @Vesperaudio convert my Sennheiser IE800s to mmcx with an upgrade to their Empathy Cable.
The build quality is top of the line, the 2 mm twin-twist (hyperlitz) cable makes the slender Kevlar OEM runs look like cheap cotton thread in comparison...
But the sound quality is the real pay-off - better in every respect - sound-stage, bass depth, highs and mids....all off the scale improved - the kind of improvement that makes you re-listen to all your favourite music all over again to pick up details you've previously missed....
Yes, the time and effort needed to send and receive the IEMs is rather protracted (being based in Belarus) ....but as the platitude states 'all good things come to those who wait'.....VERY good things...

While @Vesperaudio are very well regarded, their location would make me think twice or rather thrice to send anything to them - Belarus being sanctioned left and right along with Russia could make it very difficult, to say the least. E.g our Post Office stopped sending and receiving ANY mail or package to/from Belarus. Financial sanctions are yet another consideration.

Again, not wanting to mix politics in here and not dissing Vesper in any way or form.

Perfectly understandable - I just missed the worst of the sanctions myself (posted the IEMs out the end of January and they returned (in perfect order) at the beginning of this month...

Politics aside, @Vesperaudio is the ONLY company that replied to my e-mails and calls when I needed to repair/upgrade the IE800s after the usual 'missing audio in one side' achilles heal of a common fault - Not Sennheiser UK, Sennheiser Europe, not even the so called 'specialist audio repair' outfits in the UK or USA (who stated they didn't have the skills to repair such small/delicate drivers, let alone upgrade them to mmcx) -

Pavel at VESPER AUDIO replied swiftly to my inquiries, wasn't surprised at the lack of response from anyone else (because the skills needed to work on these IEMs is SO specialist), offered numerous options within my budget and even upgraded my cable option for free to allow one of their apprentices to work on my units....

So yes, proceed with (valid) caution - but be aware the number of companies who can offer this upgrade can be counted on the thumbs of one hand.....

Part of me has been wanting to reterminate my Phonak PFE232 with Vesper Audio, but I keep putting that off :p I've had good experiences with them in the past.
