Sennheiser IE7 portable? Vents safe?

Does anyone bring their IE7 everywhere they go? I am worried dust and stuff will get in the vents of at the top of the IE7... should I still buy it?

Someone posted earlier that Sennheiser told them the vents were only for cosmetic purposes.

This was regarding wearing the IE 7 in the rain. I assume dust would be even less severe.
