Seriously, can you recommend a dac that my wife can tell the difference from an iphone?

schiit yggdrasil for one and just about every DAC I've heard is better than the iPhone! Perhaps it's cheaper to just let her use her iPhone or get her some ear wax remover and try and see if she than notices a difference.

HD800S is more technical from Elear, which is mean less emotional. HD 800S is more enjoyable sound to me in long time listening.
Elear is more fun to hear, but its not in same class with HD 800S.

I hear with balanced mode with Violetric V280 amp and V850 DAC.

Still in burn in process, so i will update later

Sorry im a bit off topic, but did you have a chance to compare V280 against V281? I heard some was sayin that V280 is exactly like V281 just whitout preamp? Thanks.

Interesting subject!

I've being Schiit Lyr2 with Tesla NOS tubes por the past 12 months, paired with sennheiser hd800S.
I was thinking to  buy the Violectric 281 and going balanced.

Can someone chime in if I will notice a big improvement in sound qualities to justify this purchase?

thanks you!

I run HD800S balanced from Bryston BHA-1 and there is improvement in dynamics and separation. V281 is a great amp, but I would not buy V281 just for balanced, if you like Violectric sound then by all means but not just for balanced. There are way less expensive and good enough options like Jotunheim for example.
I actually wanted to but V280, reviews on InnnerFidelity about pairing of HD800 and HD800S are great, but found 1 year "old" Bryston for half a price and I am very happy with it.
Buy  care more about the details, and separation that particular sound signature, you may have different priorities.

This a voice from the past still crying in the wilderness. Highly recommend Feliks Audio Elise or the new Euforia (which I haven't heard but have on order) for HD800S. I can tell you that Elise is far superior to Valhalla2. In fact with the tube combos I currently use in Elise (EL11 TFK/Bendix 6080 slotted plate) it is difficult to imagine how it can get any better. But I'm now waiting for a second set of adapters so I can try it with EL12 ST replacing the Bendix.

And agree balanced is not the important criteria in the desktop setting. Design of amp far more important.
