I just got this email from a local dealer. Have I missed something - a new version of HD800S?

I'm in Australia so I'm wondering if it's the HD8XX for the rest of the world or just the same old model with different cables?

Price is of course AUD.
NEW from Sennheiser

$1999 NZD in all the stores selling Senn headphones but Sennheiser official website still shows $2999.

I got the same email from Addicted To Audio. Special promo price of $1499 - that's aussie dollars. *MSRP - $2599.

Pre0Order until 31st October, Stock to ship from 1st - 15th November.

When I click the link to A2A site, it is indeed a preorder price of $1499.

I got exactly the same thing from A2A, the link does indeed take me to a listing at $1499AUD (cheapest I've ever seen them).

Is this maybe not a new version and they've just recycled some promotional material from when the HD800s was originally released to promote a sale on them? The fact it's pre-order suggests this is actually new, though, so I don't know.

Damn, Sennheiser must be giving them a massive discount...
Yap looks like it. Even though they have stock headphone cannot be shipped until 1st of Nov...

OK, so it looks like just a case of Sennheiser having a load of stock to shift. I must admit that I am half tempted at that price but there are a couple of things that annoyed me when I last demoed them - the scratchy pads and the long cable/s.
