Bought a pair of HifiMan 400i. Purchased with the focused pads. Not sure why, kept getting a little bit of a headache when I used them. Bought a pair of the Brainwave pads and still a sort of "shrill" sound. Really wanted to like the headphones. Thinking maybe I should compare these to the HD650.
HifiMan 400i - Larger soundstage, very "accurate" sounding, can hear each instrument in it's location. Not sure how, but there is a grating high-end, treble too far forward ? Too bright ?
Sennheiser HD650 - Musical, fully involving, like a fairytale that you know isn't real but you still love the story. I know it is not 100% accurate, but I like it.
Think I am going to return the HifiMan 400i can't wear for extended periods of time, becomes too tiring.
Listening with Apple MacBook Pro, ifi Nano
