Sennheiser HD1000 Charleston Sound: Sound like a Sennheiser headphone. Same drivers as HD435. Sound is not as good as the 500 series and above. Sennheiser did not focus too much on the sound than looks and being a limited edition collector item. Needed a amp to sound good overall.

Sennheiser HD1000 Charleston Build: Great, Real 24K Gold, Light, and bendy. Funky, Punk, unique.

And Next Sennheiser HD580 Jubilee Edition

Introducing:

Sennheiser HD580 Jubilee Edition
Manufacture: 1995 Sennheiser 50th anniversary
Frame: Open Back, Thermoplastic Carbon fiber body
Drivers: HD600 Drivers
Frequency: 16 Hz - 30 Khz

Introducing: HD580J
P1160629.JPG

HD580J was an improved version of the HD580, a prototype of HD600 with an unique sound that's 25% better than the current HD600.

Even thou the HD580J had the same drivers as the HD600. It was in fact tuned, damped, and molded differently.

Sennheiser HD580 Jubilee Edition Sound: Release before the HD600 but sounded better? Slightly better bass response and better openness compare to the HD600. Slightly brighter than the HD600. Non-fatiguing. Crystal clear. Detail. Slight recess mids. And the sound-stage is okay.

Overall, a refine, tuned up version of the HD580. And 25% better than the current HD600 in sound quality and build quality.

Sennheiser HD580 Jubilee Edition Build: The build quality was rock solid. Many upgraded parts from the original HD580 precision, including the thermoplastic carbon fiber body and finish, computer tuned drivers, and steel grills. Because of these upgrades the Jubilee edition is way better than the original and also better than the current HD600. The comfort is the same Sennheiser comfort, one of the best.

HD580 Aftermath: After 4000 units created. Sennheiser switch the label and re-brand the HD580 and transform it into the beloved HD600!!

This headphone was one of Sennheiser most important headphone they ever released! Why? It was their very first Open back headphone they release.

A Very special Headphone to Sennheiser and to Collectors.

Sennheiser HD1000 Charleston

Lots of mix reviews on the sound on these. I notice on different forums, people consider them sounding amazing to others so-so. And others arguing it was the best HD435 version out there. And a few cases rivaling the sound quality to the HD580 and HD600.
The bottom line as i stated on top was if you pair it with an amp it most likely be great.

cheers

I had a working Jubilee, but unfortunately it got popped by a bad amp. Its frame was NOT carbon fiber -- it was plain plastic with a faux carbon fiber paint finish. And though you could argue it was slightly more refined sounding than the HD600, it was a very subtle distinction; less than 25%. Short of Stax it would've been a great headphone in its day, though.

Are you sure it wasn't thermoplastic carbon fiber? Or is that a fancy way of saying plastic with a carbon look? Was the Grill steel? Because everyone says its thermoplastic carbon fiber with a steel grill?

Okay i think i am confusing myself here lol. thermoplastic is plastic but a harden version of it.

Edit* - tiny change

you convince me. It was in fact plain old plastics. hahaha.. Overall, interesting to own. Sometimes i hate semantics.

BTW have a Staxs article coming. Need to know your thoughts on that.

Yep, and the Jubilee paint finish chips off (and looks bad) just like the other Sennheiser HD600/650 models. Now the Sony Qualia 010 - that was a real carbon fiber headband! It would be nice to have a mint Jubilee on hand, though.

I have the anniversary edition HD414 and an original high impedance version also. An HD424 rounds out that group for me.

Fun to go back to that time. I must have sold at least a 100 when they were current. By far more HD414 headphones were sold then any other headphone.

Ah yes, when I found a near mint HD580 Jubilee this year I giggled a bit when I saw the sub. 200 euro asking price.
Replaced the headband, foams and earpads and it's damn near new condition! Also got the box but not the certificate unfortunately.

This is my 2nd pair of Jubilees; had a pair around 10 years ago but the springs in those were faulty, the springs in this one will need to be replaced one day, but not that soon.
Soundwise I agree it has a slightly different tuning then the HD600, but 25% better? no. more like 5% in my opinion.
