Recent purchase of the Sennheiser HD 700, I didn't like the siblence. They sparkle too much in the highs and the lows. The "V" shape of the graph also causes them to sound a bit muddy. Comparing them to my HD 800, I realized that the HD 800 has sharper highs, BUT with no siblence, making them sound articulate.
 
I was shocked how the Sennheiser HD 700 could sound just like the HD 800 headphones. Of course, you cannot mimic the soundstage of the HD 800, but the frequencies are pretty damn similar, with the preset fix.
 
  • Download and install EqualizerAPO.
  • After installing, you'll need to restart your computer, as the installer instructs.
  • Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\EqualizerAPO\config"
  • Open the "config.txt"
  • To make sure this will work, change the dB value(6) to "0." The volume level should change after "ctrl+s"(saving.)
  • If the volume level changed, copy and paste the preset, below, into "config.txt" (REPLACE/ctrl+a everything)

Alright, I flattened the non-raw frequency response and I must say... it OPENS the soundstage on the HD 700. I boosted the "V dip" of the HD 700 frequency, within the EQ. The hidden sounds that were overpowered by the spikes widens the soundstage. Below is a picture showing the "V dip" of which I equalized to flatted the "V."
 

 
When using Sinegen, I picked up that the dip started around 13,000 Hz. It seemed to dip to about -10.3 dB. So I boosted 13,000 Hz to 10.3 dB. Flattening the "V dip" revealed new instruments, making the soundstage MUCH wider.
 
Personally, I prefer these settings over the "Raw Frequency Balance" preset, that I first made.

I boosted the frequency between 0-100hz to 2db. I like the stronger bass.

I was already thinking about selling my Sennheiser HD 700 but then i found this thread and your latest flat  Eq settings made them realy sound awesome! :)
 
I changed the presets from the 0-100 Hz range because i like to hear a nice heavy base. I found this preset the best for a strong base&sub without sounding ugly and you also benefit from the much wider soundstage that the rest of the flat Eq settings provide.
 
I am having realy much fun with this preset.

Thank you DannyRox23 ! I was so disappointed by my HD700 paired with Schiit Magni 2 + Modi 2 that I have planed to sell it and get a HD600 instead. I have been search for a slightly bright headphone with enough bass and decent soundstage for mainly Classical musics and European/Asian Pop. I already have HD650 and AKG Q701, and found that 650 is a bit too dark while q701 is just not for classical musics. HD700 is actually my first serious headphone, recommended by a friend of my fathers. But just for every minute of listening, it just sound so weird and disappointing, that despite the clarity, sound stage and imaging is far superior than HD600/650, it separates a music into too many discrete parts such that a music is no longer musical at all. Thus I started my quest for the "ideal mid-ranged headphone", in which i bought HD598, 650, q701. Surprisingly enough, I am really pleased with the balanced, forward sound without senn veil and slightly bright sound signature coming from HD598. I see many people complaining with the lack of bass of HD598, but contrary to their impressions, I find my HD598 not lack in bass at all, but instead some punchy bass can even be more pronounced than 650, despite having less upper-bass compared to 650. But.....I gave my hd598 to my mom, as she doesn't want to tweak with amps and DACs, so I am left with all those imbalanced more expensive headphones again. With your EQ for HD700, i found that the mids are so much more pronounced now, and how musics are becoming more enjoyable. I still can notice some sibilance from vocals, but I guess that is some inherent characters of the headphone that cannot be fixed by eq solely. For now, I think I will keep HD700 and you are the one who makes it possible! Thanks again for your EQ that makes my HD700 live again!

I tried the software on myself, and made a HD700 to HD600 eq for classical musics lovers. This is my first time using this software and my skills are far from decent. So it should only be treated as an interesting experiment done by a novice. Hope you would enjoy :)

When I first got my HD700s, I bought the original magni and vali to compare.  It was obvious in about 2 seconds the magni was not the best choice.  It seemed to make things even brighter.  When paired with the vali, it seemed to tame some of those sibilant characteristics.  Further, I have used the jriver parametric eq settings described in another thread that improved its other weaknesses.  Now, I love my hd700s!

I am about to buy an amp for my hd700. You recommend Vali2? What about Asgard 2? Jotunheim? I need dac also. Integrated is fine it will run off my laptop. I will try this balanced preset when I get the amp and DAC and post thoughts.
