Hi guys,
 
I will be purchasing a sennheiser hd 650 soon and was wondering what budget amp and dac combo would make the most out of the cans with a budget of $200. Thank you! If it helps, I listen to mainly blues, rock, metal, indie, and music with female vocals.

The HD650 is not particularly difficult to drive, and I think any quality amp would do a good job. The Schiit Modi2 + Magni2 is right at $200. Or, if you wanted to start out with a less expensive solution, you could get a Fiio E10K for under $80.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably get the magni. I already have a fiio e10, but the amp section is broken. I will connect the magni to the e10 line out. Does anybody have experience with pairing the fiio e18 to the seenheiser hd 650 by any chance?

Any thoughts on the Nano iDSD for the HD650?  Has a TI PurePath amp section of about 135mV@40Z, but a very stout, load-insensitive amp by design....
