Sennheiser HD 598 CS Closed Back

Well, they look different, but the technical specs (freq. response, impedance, SPL, THD) on Amazon US (598 Cs) and Sennheiser site (569) show that they are identical (569 and 598 Cs).  Since 569 is $70 cheaper than 598 Cs, it's the one to go with, unless one thinks the looks of the 598 Cs are worth the extra $70.  The 599 has better technical specs than either 569 or 598 Cs.

Right now on amazon.ca they are both listed for the same price of $199.99 CAD.  Makes one wonder why didn't Sennheiser release the 598Cs as the HD 569 and a year from now release the HD 599 SE and the HD 599 Cs?

Just bought today my Sennheiser HD 598 CS, from amazon.ca at 136$. I was going to buy the HD 598 SE but I saw this deal so I cannot refuse. I'ill listen to them and make a good review this week. Maybe the final review will be on this weekend as school week is done!

The closed back 598 Cs should sound very different from the open back 598 SE.  Mostly because of open vs closed design and the different specs (FR, SPL, THD, impedance) indicating likely different drivers.  Apples and oranges.  Looking forward to your impressions.

Would the HD 598 Cs be a good choice if im looking for a closed headphone for the office and something id use on a plane once a year? If not I'm open to other suggestions.

Well they leak more than my sennheiser hd380 pro so far. I just got them today, I'll make my review this weekend after 30 h ish of listening. Tomorrow I'll make the test at school. But so far a pretty damm enjoyable headphones match with an ipod or another portable device, but on the other hand connected on a home amplifier, the hd380 pro was more neutral and clearer. Anyway i don't want to break the punch aha. But my guess will be you will maybe have more success with another set of cans for the noise cancellation and the isolation.. I think the noise leak is the fault of 2 things: the pad and the lack of headphone pressure on the head. I'll explain more in the review.

Have you considered the MOMENTUM or MOMENTUM Wireless?

Hi Rosmadi, just wanted to know for sure the pads are made of what? I find those comfier than hd598 up to date. But they leak more than other closed headphone i have owned/tested. It's probably because the pressure on the head is really low and probably because of the material of the pad.

Thanks in advance.

They are made of soft protein leather.

The headphones sound great and it says that the pads are replaceable, does anyone have any recommendations for pads that might lessen the sound leak if that's even a thing.

They both have same numbers, but does that necessarily mean that they sound the same?
There are too many audio myths floating around these days

Hi xela3,
I see that you own and owned a nice variety of headphones.
Do you think these 598 closed are good for classical?
Are they bassier than the 598 opened or the m50x?
Right now I own the m50x and am a daily classical music listener.
Thanks
