well, i received my 595's on tuesday. i have done some overnight burn in with pink noise and about five hours a night of listening (while surfing the old intranets). i am coming from a set of vmoda vibes to these. boy i tell ya, i love them. the vibes seem "rough" or something now. anyway, i find that the 595's have decent bass on just about everything but heavy metal. i cannot imagine the amount of bass on a set of dt-770's when i hear people say the 595's have no bass and the 770's have too much. i'm getting a pair so i will know real soon. curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back.

HD595 and DT770 were my entry in the headphone world. The DT770s were the ones I kept, but that had mostly to do with the HD595's boring performance with Ambient, Drum & Bass, Triphop etc. If I was listening to more conventional and guitarish genres, I would have kept the HD595.

The DT770 turned out to be a bit extreme on long term, as you can see in my sig, where it sliced down to a less prominent position. The DT531 somewhat combines some of the HD595 and DT770 vices, great allrounder thus. Too bad it's out of construction.

ur findings of the HD595's lack of bass with heavy metal is true. i dislike the 595s because of that... and i listen to metal. thank god for Beyerdynamics

i didn't figure i would need an amp for the 80 ohm beyers, but i guess it couldn't hurt. hell the 595's are fine without an amp, i can't imagine what they will sound like when i do get one.
