Sennheiser HD 558 vs PC 360 vs HD 598

I have recently compared the HD 558 that I own with a HD 598 in a store. I found the HD 598 to have noticably less bass. The HD 558 seems to have a peak arround 170Hz. Slash’s guitar music or Jimmy Hendrix sounds very good with it. For classical I find it not so great.

hey guys, I just found this. I live in Canada here where they only sell the 558, which is $250. They don't sell the 598s here, but on the Sennheiser website, it said average retail price is $379. I check on BestBuy US website, the 598 is $250 O.o . I only live 15 minutes away from the border, so it wouldn't be a problem to go there. Should I go get the 598s? (btw, the only difference is CAD and USD currency is only by .3 cents)

I saw them in 'Future Shop' in Toronto for 199.

Hey guys it's been a while wince I've been on here, but I've decided that i'm going to get a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros in the summer. I've done my research and read that the Beyerdynamics have

1. Great Soundstage
2. Great noise isolation
3.Obviously great clarity
4.Great bass
5.Pretty great price ($165 here in Canada @ Long-Mcquade)

Thanks for the help though guys, I would have never found these without you're help!

I'm listening to PC360 at the moment. I need to say that they are very balanced, maybe a bit too bright/crisp.

This mostly means they have non-commercial bass volume (e.g. compared to Porta Pro and other commercial garbage).

I can only compare to HD518 (haven't heard 558 or 598 but supposedly they all use the same drivers), which is subjectively much worse. It has bloated bass and much less crispy treble compared to PC 360. 518 has a wider sound stage, though it sounds a bit extreme at times, not sure if this would help in games. I enjoy listening to PC360 unEQ'd, HD518 not so much (too much bass).

PC360 has one weakness which is the integrated volume control. The volume control on this particular pair (bought January, 2011) is worn out, causing the typical static and L/R channel drop-outs when rotated. Fortunately, it is still possible to find a position where both channels play equally loud.

I just bought a HD600 and the PC360 does not sound so balanced anymore. HD600 is considerably brighter and I like that sound more. PC360 has a bloated sub 500Hz range in comparison. I also listen to the Samsung Galaxy S3 headset a lot and to me it sounds more natural and balanced than PC360.
