Curious if you listened to HD 449? I was thinking about 518 first, but then decided on 449.

As the graph on headroom shows, the 449 isn't much different to the 429. I put a friend's pair on once but never really 'tested' them. They're the same build as the 429 (and other newish 400 series models).
The 518 is very different since it's open back, which i much prefer from my limited comparisons. (I've tried 598 and 650 as well)

HD 518's are really amazing, but beware they are dark sounding cans. their mids are a bit muddy and the bass just a lil loose though the soundstage and clarity is awesome. If you are into dark sound  then only go for them nahi toh you would be disappointed just like i did.
