Bit of dilemma of buying one of these in sennheiser HD 4x series [419-449]
i like more bass.. but adding to that i like to have crystal clear sound too.

Read a lot of reviews here..still not able to decide on one.
i read that 439 carry more bass and detachable wires.. [which i like more but] 449 has less bass but much more clear sound..
What do i need to know is can i turn up the bass using my sound card software [realtek] if buying 449.. will i get bass out of it ?
or bass is no natural on these things that it won't turn up ?

Also, i'm connecting this to my computer motherboard.. do i need a amp to power these headphones on ? or will headphone amp makes that much of a difference in sound quality anyway ? rolleyes.gif

some more of my requirements

1. Noise leakage should be minimum or none [very important]
2. Bass
3. Suggest one amp [if needed]

I've got demos of 429 and 202 to test ... they said that 439/449 are not available for testing..

and i'm buying these on tuesday.. so needs an answer now ... quick

Asus Xonar DG sound card, $30 and there is a $10 mail in rebate this month.
Might improve audio quality over the motherboard's on-board audio.

Have you checked out the Gemini HSR-1000 (Takstar Pro 80) headphones, on eBay they are $56.

Thanks for the reply.
No..i'm from india/kerala.. only sennheiser products are available nearby..
how much of a difference does an amp make anyway ? is it worth investing another 1.7k on amp alone !?
