Hi guys, new to the forums. I'm looking at getting a closed back circumnaural headphone pair to complement my Koss Porta Pro, as i need a pair with some noise isolation. I'm looking at the Audio Technica ATH-M30 and the Sennheiser HD 419. I will be using them with a Fiio E3. I listen to a lot of rap, so bass does play a part, but the Fiio boosts bass, so not too much bass un-amped. It will also be used to watch some movies. My Source is a Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360L, whatever intergreated audio comes on the MSI 880 GMS E41 (FX), and an iPod Nano 4G. Which is the better of the 2 for my uses? Or for that matter, the best closed back under 50 dollars, preferably under 40. I know my budget is terrible.

Yeah, that's what I heard, but is the sound quality similar, our better to the Sennheisers?I don't mind a leak if the sound is better.

those 2 models are not particularly common around here. that's probably why people can't really suggest much here. i haven't auditioned either of one personally.

Have you also checked out Monoprices??? I have Shure Srh 440's but use monoprice headphones for public commutes..and they are perfect. DEEP BASS, nice and clear... they are great headphones...better than what you are wishing for actually.

Hmm, I dunno if I'm willing to take that plunge. Depends on the prices of my choices at the time I buy, I guess. I'll keep an eye out for those cans.

I had the Monoprice cans. I sold them. The M30 was much better in everything except portability.

I am wanting to decide the same to buy in India.

It would be great to know which one did you finally buy and why?

Hope to hear from you soon

TIA

HD 419s. It was cheaper than the M30s, and I heard the M30s had a flat response curve. The senns had good bass and a slight bass emphasis. I'm happy with the HD419,but I want to try the M30s.
