If isolation isn't a priority you might want to consider the Grado SR60i (~$80) or Alessandro MS1 ($100) as well. Both great headphones with lots of impact.

I wish to chip in with my hatred for the HD280. A headphone which lacks any redeeming qualities in extension, tone, timbre, open sound (even for a closed headphone) , comfort, form, fit, ergonomics, a cord which isn't a pain in the ass or a price which isn't a heinous rip-off (even more so in the UK).

Although, on the positive side.


No. Sorry, there is no upside. There are many better options. Especially if you know how to use a soldering iron and a tube of glue.

Go for either the SRH-840's or MS-1i's. Both easy on the wallet and sound amazing.
