Hi All !!

Quick question. I am going to purchase either the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II or AKG K 271 MK II
to be primarily used with an ipod/ipad, and occasionally my laptop.

Which of the two, for these purposes, would be superior?

Note: Price is NOT a factor in making this decision.

Biggest concerns: SQ, isolation, noise leaking and comfort.

Thank you!!

Cheers,
Shaun

HD-25-1 is easier to drive than K271 and will sound better out of most portable devices. If you have a really good portable player like a Hifiman HM-601 or similar, then I personally prefer K271 sound which is smoother and more natural to my ears with a much more open sound. Unamped out of most consumer grade players though K271 sound loses too much definition to be enjoyable.

Comfort is better on K271. Isolation is somewhat better on HD25, but K271 offers good isolation too. K271 is quite big and bulky for portable use, but some people are OK with that. HD25 is more rugged and will take more abuse. I would still rather use K271 witha decent portable amp or a decent player like HM-601 than HD25 because I prefer the sound of K271 by a good margin.
