Maybe I should label all sub-$50 closed headphones with the four-letter word CRAP (that's right; 'crap' with ALL CAPS) in their model number (e.g. HD 2CRAP2 Pro; MDR-VCRAP).

what about the 280? and the v-6?

Both of those (based on average street prices) are in the next higher price class than the crap-tacular closed headphones that I've discussed. And even then, the HD 280 Pro and the MDR-V6/MDR-7506 are practically the only decent closed headphones in the $50~$100 price range that provide much practical isolation (the Beyerdynamic DT231 is also in that price range, but doesn't provide much if any isolation). (Don't confuse the V6 with the V600, the latter of which is just as crap-tastic as the cheap sub-$50 closed headphones.)
