Sennheiser CX300-outdated?

Hi, I just baught a pair of CX300s, I am very very happy with them, once fitted properly they provide sonic enjoyment to my canals, what I did notice though is that their over 3 years old, I know sennheiser have released newer models but for around £15 from amazon, is there anything really comparable to them? I think AKG do their K 324/319 for that price also, but just wondering if there were any alternatives, or are the little CX300s really the king in this price range? I was asking as a friend asked if he would reccomend them, I said yes, but I'll check if there's anything else in the market for the same price, I was thinking of the Koss portapros, but she doesn't want on ear

well for the money so long as you like lots of bass i think they are rather good, certainly off the top of my head i cant think of anything better

(unless you catch play or amazon doing one of their crazy good offers)

I never hesitate to recommend them to people who ask for suggestions. They are a step up from most bundled earphones, they are cheap and easy to egt and the build quality is pretty good.

For people that don't mind a bit of a wait (or over the ear design) I would recommend Soundmagic PL-30s as a better sounding option for a similar price.

Outdated? No! Just outnumbered by the amount of fakes there are on the market. I still prfer the soundwise T4's to the CX300. Deeper better controlled bass, and the T$'s are more neutral and natural sounding than the CX's.

The CX300 were crap when they came out, they're crap now and as long as they're made they'll continue to be crap. In ths manner, they will never become outdated.

Mid-fi, but not anywhere near the poor sound quality of CX300.

The CX300 isn't suitable for listening to music. Not even if you get a pair for free.

MX500 then. My bad. They're an older model. I'd still rate them though. Caviat is that they might not be great if you have little ears. The MX550 is a bit smaller.

bass is close to non existent, high isn't terribly detailed and I'm starting to question the extension at the low end too.

Maybe it just needs more burn in, I don't know, I usually burn in for close to 50hrs before passing finals judgement, but still, burn in don't alter the sound THAT much usually(PL30 being the exception so far)

I mean if you don't mind waiting for shipping, the (fairly odd) look, and the hassle of going over ear. I'd recommend the Soundmagic PL30, it still doesn't have much bass but at least in the mid and high it's really detailed, and the bass isn't bad with the marshmallow tip.

CX300 really isn't bad for bassy music. Assuming what you listen to are rock and pop and hip hop of today it'll do just fine. And it is REALLY comfortable.

As far as cheapskate semi-audiophile IEMs go the EP-630 is still the better IEM than the CX300 sound wise. Although the CX300 beats it when it comes to built quality.

I agree with scytheavatar, Ep-630 are very good sounding for the price. I got 2 pairs of those and they don't sound to bad. I have not heard the CX300, but seems really similar in shape and size.
