I have been using CX 400 over a period. Now I want to buy a new in-ear headphone. I have decided to buy Klipsch S4 which seems to be quite popular within $50 range. I listen to Metal Music mostly and also Hard Rock sometimes.

Firstly, how is the audio quality of S4 in terms of bass, mids, treble compared to CX 400.
Secondly, is there any other better option around this price range.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The S4 was considered alright a few years ago, but not these days. I would probably look into some other budget phones. I don't know that much about stuff in that price range, but maybe the Soundmagic E10, E30, or Sony MH1C.

From memory that MH1C was better than the S4. http://www.head-fi.org/t/478568/multi-iem-review-269-iems-compared-rha-ma-350-added-01-22-13

I'd look at this thread for information. Brainwavz stuff or maybe the Vsonic GR06 would be good.

I was interested in Vsonic GR06 but it seems it is out of production from the their website. Also customer support does not look promising in USA/

Try Amazon or ebay? They have it there. The S4 is so mehhhhhhhh. I would basically just not get the S4. Tons of Bass (okay quality), midrange and highs are pretty bad. Also S4 build quality is terrible, though the Reference S4 might be better with its different cables.
