Well now dont get me wrong, I love the 485 as well as my cowon, but they dont mix well together. The cowons on maxed volume 40 and the sound coming through the 485s is too low.

( by the way there is no difference in sound from 32-40 volume...what gives?)

anyway, I just spent almost exactly 300 smackers on both including shipping just a few weeks ago. I dont really have the cash to get a decent amp, but I am looking. People are recommending the ibasso t4 but jeez its 100 bucks :[
I was hoping for something with a smaller profile but so it seems thats not possible...

any alternatives to the t4 out there worth taking a look at that are small, roughly the same size as the t4?

Get the E5 for now, it'll add some punch.
And get the T3 when you have enough cash.

T4 is for IEMs anyway... I'd pick up the E5 for a cheap volume booster... Even the E3 drove my HD485 to unlistenable levels.
