I guess it would just be the same as the 550 but without the useless volume control?

If these are a different fit to the 300/400/500s ill snap them up in an instant.

Actually, they look like cheap 80s Sony/Aiwa earbuds to me. I think the previous design was actually better. Not that it was good in the first place though.

Well hopefully the sound compensates for the design. I wonder, did the team that designed the HD555/595 series design this?

Metal grills. The HD580 has plastic grills, while the HD600 has metal grills. Wonder if the same change will improve the sound.

Looks like the 550's and 450's have 16ohm resistance, as opposed to 32 ohm for the 500's and 400's. The only other data posted for the 550's of note is that both they and the 500's have '123dB(SPL) / 1mW'.

I have no idea what that means, though

... any experts that can chime in?

16ohm is not good. It means the x50 will be prone to hiss.

Bringing this one to the top cause I'm curious if anybody's heard the X50 senns yet? I'm going to be ordering a set for active use (cycling, etc), and I'm trying to decide between the mx500's and the mx550's...

I really dont get why they cant make them more comfortable, that design just doesnt fit into the ear! I wonder if they will ever create something along the line of the sony 868/888s

I have the same problem, they just...fall out of my ears but i like the sound of the earbuds (that being against other earbuds) so im just hoping for the 450/550 to be of a new shape.

And that they may not work so well out of the portable equipment they are intended to be used with. The lower the impedence, the more current required to drive them which won't be a good thing for portable equipment. My Sony MDR-E829V suffer from this problem, being 16 ohm my iRiver IMP-350 has difficulty driving them but they sound great from an amp.

So this means that it would be better to buy MX500 instead of MX550? I was also considering Shure E2C since they are only 44euros (discount price) at the moment. My player, Nextway NMP-612 (http://nextway.rhas.co.kr/english/product/nmp_612t.htm) should arrive next week, and since the included headphones will suck, I need new ones. I also heard that The Plugs would be decent with some modding. I really don't know what to buy
