Simple question

I have the HD280 and modded it so the bass is acceptable. Would the A900 be much better? I know it is better, but worth the price?

Some review I read here seem to say they are close.

Thanks

Better bass? Clearer? Better high frequencies?

Thanks for the response.

I haven't heard a modded HD280, but I've listened to a friend's standard HD280 for a while and didn't really like it. I thought they had an "empty" sound (I was listening to Grados back then), and just didn't have much of a lower range. Thad made the highs fatiguing when I tried turning up the volume.

So when I was looking for a closed ear, I decided on an A900. While the A900 may have recessed mids to some, I still like it a lot. I feel that yes, there is better bass, yes, it's clearer, and yes, the high frequencies are better.

It's comfortable, too!

thanks

Some reviews said they were close - but that probably means considering the price difference ($160 used for the A900 vs. $65 used for the HD280)
