Cant decide on which one to go for, any advice is appreciated since its only £50 difference to get the HD-650 over the 600 or if theres any alternatives feel free to mention them

Ill be using it on a Sherwood (Newcastle) AV amp, and mainly for music (pop/rock/classical/alround) and for TV/films also but mainly for music....

While I know there are some people who likes the HD-600 better than the HD-650, I kind of regret I didn't go for the HD-650. If you get the HD-600 first and then decide to upgrade, it is going to cost you more than going straight to the HD-650.

This question has been asked for several times. I'd suggest you to use search function.

But go for the 650's. Eventually you'll want them anyway.

My headphone preference goes like this...

Senn 650 > Beyer 880 > Grado 325 > Senn 600

Guess which I suggest

Even then the Beyer and Senn 650 are closer to each other sonically than the 600 vs. 650. If you want air up top go 880, smooth up top go 650. Unintelligable vocals at low volume go 600

I have a good number of poorly recorded rock so the smoother top of the 650 helps where the 880 pointed it out. On good recordings its really personal preference.

The only major difference I heard between the 600/650 on my setup was in the bass. The 650 has alot more bass, especially deep bass. I tested by swapping only the cans, using the same senn upgrade cable, amp, etc. to eliminate any variables. Other than that they sound pretty much the same to me. The 650's are also a *little* more forward.

But not everyone likes that added bass...there's a cult of HD600 lovers (including amp-guru Ray Samuels, who claims the HD650 was designed for use with poorer source/amp setups compared to the HD600 which really needs a good source/amp/cable to shine) but I listen to alot of hip hop and electronica so it was perfect for me. Even on classical type stuff it's not overpowering, sounds natural to me, but that's just my opinion.

The 600s appear to be the holly grail, but as alot of 600 owners say they wish they got the 650....

more bass is what im hearing in other reviews also...

hmm still hard to decide

HD650 not only improves bass, it also improves details. However HD650 will sound slightly more recessed than HD600. I would say go for HD650 if your budget allows.
