I think so. Despite being a musician, it is amazing how tone deaf I was (tone in referance to audio tone not musical tones). I hear huge differences now, especially when I listen to car system setups where all the instruments mush together. I think its like learning to ride a bike or learnig to swim, once you know how its done its easy to look back and think, god life would be so different not knowing how to do these things.
