Spybot - Search & Destroy (often Spybot-S&D) is a popular malware, spyware and adware removal program which works on Microsoft Windows 95 and later. Like most malware scanners, Spybot-S&D scans the computer hard disk and/or RAM for malicious software.

Spybot is not AntiVirus software. NOD32 and AVG are AV. Good protection requires malware (spyware etc) and AV.

Viruses are one of the reasons I truly despise computers. Not only do I have hundreds of important files saved on my pc but I also game, read, watch movies etc on it. I remember having to reformat my entire system (1TB of data) just to get rid of a boot sector virus and I didn't back anything up. I found that Avira AntiVir isn't a bad freeware AV but it does ave annoying pop ups that ask you to buy the full version.
